Dental Implants

Implant is a kind of titanium screw placed on the jaw bone to complete the missing teeth. It has a good tissue compatibility and bone bonding.  After it has been placed on the bone tissue without causing allergic reactions, it turns into a part of the body and shows maximum strength.

Implants help filling of gaps without having to cut the adjacent teeth. Also in complete edentulism cases,it is possible to make use of these implants and therefore produce more binding and comfortable prostheses.

What are the phases of an Implant?

Right planning and diagnosis are extremely important. The specialist conducts a clinical and radiographic examination for the implantand then checks if the jaw structures have a suitable width and depth so that the implants of a certain lengthand diameter can be put in. There are cases when advanced surgical techniques may be needed to make sure that the jaw bone is suitable. After these procedures are completed, the dentist conducts the surgical intervention to place the implant on the bone.

After the implant operation, some time should pass (3 months on average) so that the implant unites with the bone.Following recovery, the dentist connects the prosthetic part onto the implant,so a new structure is formed, which is connected to a fixed part in the bone and which imitates the real tooth.Other applications for fixed and detachable prosthesis are conducted on this structure, and this marks the end of the prosthesis phase.

Can everyone go through an implant treatment?

Every patient who fulfills some conditions can go through an implant treatment. As long as they are kept under control, diabetic patients, hypertension patients and cardiovascular disease patients can also go through implant treatment. If this is the case, since these diseases are chronic, or in other words longer-lasting, the dentist asks for the consultations of the specialists. The dentist then continues the procedure based on the response of the specialist.

For an implant intervention, there should be enough bone tissue on the site. If there is bone insufficiency, advanced bone augmentation procedures can be used to make the bone tissue ideal for an implant treatment.

Before starting the operation, if necessary, the dentist asks for dental volumetric tomography and doctor consultations. On a routine basis, panoramic films and clinical examinations are carried out by our specialist to complete your planning.

What happens after the Implant Surgery?

After the surgical procedure, antibiotics are administered for preventive measures. We advise cold applications and meticulous care at home in the postop period. Within 7 to 10 days, the stitches are removedand when the dentist deems it appropriate (within 15 to 20 days following the operation), we provide our patients with temporary prostheses so that they do not have to stay edentate. Depending on the surgical technique, in some casesstitch removal and temporary prostheses production periods can be prolonged.Ou patients do not have pain complaints except for the pressure of the stitches on the tissue in the first couple of days following the surgery, and the period until stitch removal is comfortable.

What are the Advantages of Implant Treatment?

  • It stops bone degradation on the site of application.
  • It prevents the adjacent teeth from veneers, in cases of single or multiple tooth loss.
  • It increases the binding attribute and the functionality of detachable prostheses.
  • It helps the patient regain the chewing function rapidly.
  • It can be used for a lifetime if the oral care is ensured regularly.
